HISTORY OF THE HYBRID AND THE ELECTRIC CAR

It is necessary to research the electric-
powered car to find opportunities for
design. As I looked deeper, the electric-
powered automobile has been around
for over a century. In fact, there were
more electric car than I.C.E. (internal
combustion engine) cars on the road
in 1912. These cars had a uniqe history
in that that were more quiet, less
polluting, and reliable than their I.C.E.
counterparts.

In fact, these electric-powered cars
had a rich history. The first speeding
ticket was given to a man in an electric
car. Even Ferdinand Porsche raced
his hybrid electric car, one of the first
casr he built. Henry Ford bought his wife
an electric car.

However, the popularity waned when
the starter was invented, plentiful oil,
cheaper I.C.E. cars, and the building
of interstate freeways.
