We have plenty of role models out there telling us to be green. Most of them spread their word through fear, the most famous of all is Al Gore. ELECTRON takes the stand that delight will inspire more people to move toward eco-friendly change. Responsible role models for the electric/hybrid car cause can be fun and cool people. Leilani Munter, a female Nascar driver, donates money to adopt an acre of rainforest every time she races to offset her carbon footprint. She leads by example and shows that you don't have to be green at all costs, just do your part and what is in your conscience. An avid enthusiast and speed freak, she talks about her speeding tickets and her cause to spread the word about reducing our CO2. Thomas H. Rawls, VP of Sales and Marketing for NativeEnergy, a company that promotes global warming awareness and renewable energy, is one of Munter's sponsors. He recently defended his company sponsoring a high CO2 emitting motorsport with the following blog post:
"If we only address those who already agree with us, nothing changes. And if we work only with people who already believe in what we do, who is going to change the minds of those who don't?"
That is directly the core of what ELECTRON is trying to do, change the world of car ownership by making electric/hybrid cars more desirable and eventually the norm.
