In retrospect, proving commercial viability in ELECTRON as a magazine can be a challenge, especially in a recession and a changing advertising structure. First of all, real fanfare does not exist yet, which is unusual for a magazine. There is a following of green car environmentalists, but not a strong one for performance green car enthusiasts. Although car companies all have high dollar electric sports cars to tout in a car show about this exciting future, they are still out of reach to most in the short term. As Eric Noble of the CarLab stated after my thesis presentation of the project in 2009, "ELECTRON is like Hot Rod magazine, but 10 years before there were hot rods".
