This poster/spread shows the 100+ year history of the electric and hybrid vehicle from a sporting perspective. The importance of history is apparent when it comes to new technology, as people are often skeptical of the new. Greenspeed shows that electric-car technology was around for over 100 years. Did you know the first speeding ticket was in an electric car? Two electric cars entered the first automobile race in America in 1895. A Belgian built electric car, La Jamais Contente also set the land speed record in 1898 for going 68mph. Even Ferdinand Porsche's first car was hybrid powered. In the early 1900s, electric cars were considered more desirable than internal combustion cars.
This feature sets a precedent that performance motoring in EVs and Hybrids was around in the early 1900s, which is important to changing the mindset of car enthusiasts of unproven technology. This fold-out spread helps realize a rich heritage that is not known by many, crucial to developing culture. Developing a deep respect for electric-powered car heritage is also a reminder that these cars were around for over a hundred years, and the time has come for them to be dominant again and that they are here to stay.
