Poster Analysis
M3 || Summer 2006 || Communication Design 3
Final assignment for Comm design 3, a critique and presentation of a work from one medium into another, in particular a poster in a motion piece. Directly inspired by my "Word Walls" and the work of Mieke Gerritzen, this movie presents the anti-war poster bloodbath with my vision of why it is good poster design.
This is not a Knob
M3 || Summer 2006 || Communication Design 3
This is Not a Knob is an interactive video installation that incorporates a physical interface to explore the work of Surrealist artist Rene Magritte. By turning a giant knob the works of Magritte morph, change, and transition into new works and one another. These are the motion pieces that the user controls on screen. As they play here they look like Monty Python animations, which is different than how they felt in the installation. Within the work the images move back and forth between being surreal and not as the user scrubs forwards and backwards. [two videos to come]
Motion workshop
M3 || Summer 2006
Starting from a tiny scrap of video, a pencil sharpener glinting in the sunlight, I constructed this video loop. This piece was created in a weekend workshop with Geoff Kaplan. The goal was to destroy video source to create something truly new. The goal was to create something truly abstract that didn't resort to using filters or pre-made effects.
Blux Flip
M2 || Spring 2006 || Super Studio
This was a concept sketch for one possible interaction for our Blux project. Eventually we deiced not to go with this approach, we wanted the interaction to be with the environment through the Blux instead of interacting this directly with the Blux. It is a very rough composite but was made only to test the idea out.
Blux Skins
M2 || Spring 2006 || Super Studio
As our final outcome in Super Studio we create a toy concept called Blux. Boys would play with their Blux by exchanging its external sensors and moving the Blux around to different environmental conditions. As the boys made those changes the printable reaction from the blux would be what patterns are shown on its “Skin Patch displays.” These are tests of different skin patterns. Blux.la
