Design Approach
We coined the phrased "puppies and pecs" to describe our observation of the tween and their stage in life which situates them in constant states of tension and yet not a stage of contradiction.

The Room = Comfort
We learned from the tweens that they related their room to a therapeutic environment. It was their comfort zone, a place for them to gain privacy, and a place in their lives to "de-stress". We wanted to enable the tween to experience the same comfort of their rooms in a public space. We wanted them to be able to take their room with them anywhere. We decided to make something with their rooms in mind. We took a leap from space to object and came up with the concept of Mobo = mobile object. We could make their favorite place accessible anywhere and everywhere.
The first design exploration was a physical manifestation of their room. The pod could fit into a backpack and was portable. It was a personal and physical space combined within a public realm. We looked for other objects that were both comforting and stress releasing to help inspire the final form such as bubble wrap.
Space or Place
Next we examined where Mobo might exist: space or place. Could it be both a private and collective space? We revisited the Tween Vibrations, and interpretive tools created from our research to understand common tween emotional states. The vibrations were combined with the concept of the pod to help create Mobo: the pod.

It was through further research into materials and technology that we arrived at the final design of Mobo
