Image + Sound

This project is an extension of the cognition sound experiment. (Please refer to "Information + Cognition") I combined old footage of a boxing broadcast with the sound of an old boxing video game. The midi sound overlay did not amplify the intensity of the boxing match. Instead it made the usually intimidating footage more entertaining and comical.

The second footage was of an old racing video game with the sound from a current F1 video game. Even though it was a pixelated graphic, it seemed more sophisticated than it actually was. I have thought of the importance of sound in media before, but this time I could expand my idea further to thinking about the following: What kind of sound effects have been attempted in sports events throughout the history? What kind of sounds have succeeded or failed? How does narrative become better or different by the utilization of certain sound?
