In the class, Interactive Object and Space, taught by Philip van Allen, Jiyeon Song and I worked on our first public interaction project, Art Center Underground. It is a game allowing a player experiencing an one-term life of a graphic design student at Art Center.
The player experienced the rewards as well as frustration about a student’s learning experience from a gaming process. We had a survey among students and used it for the content of the game.
One of my friends from another major thought it was interesting but a little bit unsure about specific issue in a different major. It inspires me the idea of exchanging cultural elements in a public space can be a new way to use interactive design as a research tool. This finding also becomes a key element of my master thesis, Shuffle Space.
