PUBLIC FEEDBACK
"A lot of the connectedness one feels with a group of people in witnessing something extraordinary can not be achieved through video or digital recording. " David Rockwell.

The response to the performance was generally positive. It was interesting to see the difference in attitudes between the two days they were performed. Generally, the observers on the weekday afternoon were more proactive in trying to discover what was the root to the event. A few people attempted to follow the performers out of the intersection, take pictures with them as if they were sideshow entertainers, or ask them about the concept of the performance. They were directed to me as I was there to stimulate conversation about the history of the city.

One example of this was a group of ladies that were highly interested in what had happened. They were directed to follow me about two blocks from the initial site, and asked what my project was about. I informed them the content was inspired by events in Pasadena's history, including the birth of the orange industry. One woman wanted to dialogue further about the marketing schemes they had conducted, information that I hadn't even come across in my research. It was an interesting event that happened, which spurred further questions on what people actually knew about their city's past, and what events would they want to see performed live if they had the opportunity.

The weekend crowd seemed more apathetic about the reasons why it happened, and while surprised and confused, content to let the event momentarily happen and exist in the past. However, even though they didn't seem as interested, there is still a great moment of bonding these strangers had when they'd look at one another and ask, "What was that?". The feeling of sharing something unusual happening was accomplished in a brief 24 seconds, even if the message was somewhat muddied and the meaning lost on the crowd.
