Minding the Gap

In our contemporary world, science and technology often serve as intermediaries - facilitating our search for knowledge within our unknowable world. Ironically, it is often ambiguity which inspires us. Does the impression of accuracy and objective truth cause us to undervalue the exploration inherent within our quest for knowledge? Minding the Gap explores this question through a hypothetical scientific organization which aims to explore the unknowable, the Institute of Gapiology. Through a book on Gapiology, three case studies, and a set of helpful instruments, we are invited to witness the process of this new science still in the early stages of development. Ultimately, Minding the Gap reminds us of the residual presence of the unknowable in our everyday experiences. By looking deeper into our gaps in knowledge, it asks us to reconsider the value we place on accuracy and objectivity and instead, invites us to imagine the potential that lies within the unknown.
