RESEARCH

Experiment One: Initial sketch of Eco Store
The original idea was to just show environmental aspects that and awareness a company had that went into making a clothing item. There would be a tag that the consumer would press on the clothing that would give them a quick read on the item on a screen on the clothing rack. However, after this idea was comped and feedback had been given we realized that consumers needed more information then just the environmental factors. Also, the information that was being provided needed to be obviously from a third party.

Experiment Two: "Scan" the clothing to gather data and documentation about the item
We realized by conducting this experiment, the experience to the shopper became too linear. Because there were too many choices available to the shopper when scanning the clothing, we realized the consumer needed to be given the choice to dig deeper into the clothing if desired. When consumers browse clothing items, they don't necessarily want to know every detailed information about the clothing. We felt that if they were given too much information when browsing, it could be a turn off to a shopper to use the scanner. Because of this observation, we decided to create an application or device that would enhance the browsing experience. When shoppers go into a dressing room to try on their item, it is because they are more interested in purchasing the item. We decided that during this time, it would be important to incorporate more detailed information for the consumers. Sounds of the users social network was also investigated during this experiment. By turning a knob(which would be linked to the social network) we tested tuning in and out from one comment to another. Through this test, we realized that a user would not want an additional ask of tuning in and out of a social network, thus later simplifying the idea to a simple switch that would activate the comments.

Experiment Three: Gestural Movements of Shopping
We also studied the gestural movements of a shopper. In order to enhance the shopping event, we investigated how the gestures of walking into a room, setting down your items, and looking into the mirror could be incorporated into the experience. What if when entering into a room, a sound or video was activated immediately letting you know detailed information of the clothing? Then when the user sets down their phone device, the display becomes activated. Afterward, when standing in front of the mirror, they can "switch it on" in order to listen to feedback from friends. We realized that having something triggered while walking into a space may be quite annoying to the customer. Because of this conclusion, we felt that it was best to give the consumer the choice of watching the display(by placing their phone device) and turn on the mirror. In our final exploration, we incorporated all the previous experiments to create a simple, yet enhanced shopping experience.
