The probe I designed for class was a workbook which had the families children fill out one exercise a day for five days. The exercises main intent was to pull out the similarities and differences within this family’s children’s birth order. The family I tested the probe on have three children in their family, an 18 year-old male, a 17 year-old female and a 12 year-old male. After analyzing and comparing the workbooks once they had finished the results were interesting. The most interesting observation I uncovered was that the family who felt that they communicated and discussed issues effectively in their house found an issue they weren’t aware of. The father of the family said to me that he hadn’t realized that their youngest child felt so controlled by his older siblings. I'd like to go back to their home with another probe and activity to ask more questions to the family so that they could open up more of a dialog and communication between them and a greater mode of understanding about the feelings the kids had about their place in the family.

Design Research is an area of interest I'm really excited to push more in the next semester.
