Interview with Jeff Nield, 26
Transportation Design, 7th Term

Why are you a Transportation Design major? What is it about it that you love?

I have drawn cars since I was 5.  I have business degree. I went to do marketing, and was sick of sitting in cube all day long with no windows. I wanted a fun job. Car design is very competitive and tough, but it is never over.  You can always grow and learn and debate.  It should keep me destracted for a lifetime. The real reason is to earn a living doing something I would do for free.

Why did you come to Art Center to study Transportation Design? What
is it about the program that attracted you to this school?

All of the newsmakers in the auto industry can be traced back to Art Center. That’s what did it for me. CCS is 20 min away from my house, but I kept reading Art Center, Art Center (and it looked really cool on the website!)  So I came out and was so impressed with how well maintained the facility was. It seemed so well run, and I really wanted to be there.
