Market Controller, 12.04.08

For this project I was to implement one analog nob as a means to navigate an information space. I created a balance board using a skateboard deck with a single truck screwed to the middle, and attached the knob to the axle of the truck so that the back and forth motion of the board rotates the knob. The knob is also attached to a Make Controller, which converts the analog signal coming from the knob into a digital one that can be processes within the computer. The media experience is programmed in flash. It is tweaked so that the farther the user is away from center, the steeper the market will begin to dive, and the closer the user is to center, the steeper the market will rise. Hitting the maximum or minimum ranges within the market produces extraordinary events, and stops the game.
