FAMILY RECRUITMENT
Our first goal of the research was to find families that are willing to participate in our research, we went three different directions to recruit families to join our research, we sent out emails, posted ads on graiglist, and we also passed out flyers and posters.
This was the flyer I designed to pass out for our family recruitment, , and before I joined the family recruitment group, I never knew that we actually had to go on the streets and convince people to join our research by passing out flyers. At first, I was so scared to stop people from walking by, but slowly I got the hand of it and started to act more aggressive on recruiting the families.
Although in the end we did not recruit any families through passing out the flyers (most of them contacted us through craiglist), it was still a very interesting experience, especially for a foreigner like me, it forced me to face the environment I am living in now, and also helped me to overcome some language and cultural barriers that I couldn't have crossed.
