A hybrid ritual generator is in goals to deal with the issues of diversity of cultures. We are a mix of cultures and when two cultures come together choices have to made in which a new hybrid culture is created. For example one might be need to have a Christian wedding and future spouse might be from Kenya and want to have a tradition Swahili wedding. However due to either for an appreciation of both cultures or neither a new combination wedding can occur or a totally new wedding can be created. These rituals are universal and can be from everyday actions to major life events such as a wedding. We are attempting to create a space that is the Hybrid ritual generator that would allow the user to become fully immersed into the diverse cultural experience. This space will allow the user to create new random cultural narratives of rituals. We are exploring forms with a Zoetrope or a puzzle as an interface using layers of universal cultural differences for one scenario. For example if a user was to have a sister in one setting a choice might need to be made. Either kill or kiss sister. Once you have chose one you might change the setting and change the story or see the results of one culture. We have also discussed the idea of including a camera that would allow the user to be absorbed into the stories. |
